Exceedingly | Sis. Bala Solomon | Suresh, PCR

Exalted him exceedingly!

2 Chronicles 1:1 “Now Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him and exalted him exceedingly.”

The Oxford dictionary defines ‘exceedingly’ as “to go beyond the limit!” The Apostle Paul talks about this in Ephesians 1:19 “and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe..” This word ‘exceedingly’ captured my attention!  The Bible does not stop with just saying that Solomon was blessed but a punch is placed by adding the word ‘exceedingly’!  Observe, God does and says nothing without a purpose!  I do not know about you, but today as I read this particular chapter with fasting, I found that the second book of Chronicles starts with mentioning the ‘abundance’ that Solomon enjoyed.  Why?  Because the same scripture says, “the Lord his God was with him.” I like the wording, “the Lord his God!” All of us boast about our possessions and say, ‘my car, my wife, my child and my so and so’ but do we say ‘my God?’ ; As long as the Lord was his God, Solomon prospered.  Well, when we talk about Solomon, all of us think of the wisdom he received from God.  But let me tell you something, much before receiving wisdom from God, this man was exceedingly blessed. Much more than he could take! Why? Because the Lord his God was with him!  Now, verse 6 says, Solomon went before the altar of God and offered a thousand burnt offerings which touched the heart of God.  Further God shows up in his dream and says ”Ask, what shall I give you.?” Friend, this is no fairy tale, this is history recorded in the Bible.  Solomon asked for wisdom, and God besides wisdom also blesses him with riches, wealth and honor.  Wow!

We love to study how Ratan Tata or Bill Gates made it to the top. They made it through their own means but I want to teach you to get to the top THROUGH GOD!  Are you listening?  Living in a period of uncertainty, I am sure this devotion would be soothing and energizing.  Can one be blessed like Solomon?    Why not?  Yes, we can!  We do not need ‘Six formulas’ for success, all we need is to obey the Ten Commandments of God in order to have success.  John 14:23 says, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”  Which means when you obey God’s Word, God will be with you and in you.

During the initial days of my walk with God, this scripture created a flutter in my heart.  The Scripture says, “We will come to him and make Our home with him!”  My, that’s beautiful! God was going to make me as His home!  I meditated this one scripture for many hours and devoted my life to follow it at any cost. I invited Jesus to come and stay with me!  I am blessed! How about you?
