Keep polishing | Bala Solomon | Suresh, PCR

Keep Polishing!

Daniel 6:10 “Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.”

A man visiting the bridge of a huge ship was impressed by the "brass, which gleamed like gold." He asked an officer, ‘How often do you polish this?’ The reply was, ‘Every day’. For the minute you stop polishing it, the brass starts to tarnish.’"("Our Daily Bread" April 28, 2003) We must submit ourselves to the constant cleansing of God’s holiness and righteousness, if we are to remain clean. How? Prayer, bible reading, family prayer, church worship times, witnessing and fasting.

When we keep close to God we can walk in the spirit. Back while I was conducting prayer cells at the office, I used to reiterate the importance of fellowshipping with God on a daily basis.  I would say, “one day away from prayer is one day away from God.”  Slowly when prayer takes the back seat, satan takes the front seat.  The devil trembles and shivers at a man who is constantly on his knees.  Hence he tries all tactics to stop us from our fellowship with God.  He makes us doubt, gives us extra work, problems and makes us tired and lazy so that we would stop praying.  One man of God says, “If we are defeated in prayer we are defeated everywhere.” That’s why Paul says, “pray without ceasing.” When we can find time to eat more than three meals a day, why can’t we find time to kneel and pray?  Daniel knelt three times a day.  What was the effect of his prayer life?  He was able to face the lions in the den and the giants outside the den with grace and ease without clenching his fist and punching his enemies.  Why are you not able to control your tongue and emotions? Lack of prayer, you need polishing everyday!

Not many have the habit of a disciplined prayer life and quiet times with God.  As you pray consistently for a person, the power of God touches that person and brings about a change in him/her.  I have prayed this way for many people in my family and have seen miracles happen because of my prayer.  I still pray for people everyday, anxiously waiting for God to answer my prayer because “He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.” (Psalm 116:2)  People who take this method seriously and sincerely will reap astonishing results.

The key behind the success in the life of Daniel is his prayer life.  Jesus talked about the importance of prayer to His disciples and also taught them to pray ‘daily’, not monthly or quarterly or when you feel like. But DAILY!  Did you get that?

When you are in constant and daily touch with the Almighty, you can tap from His Heavenly resources and stay content, confident, happy, cheerful and peaceful.
